In 1975, Richard (Dick) Dearborn, President of RSN Crathern Industries, began his long career in the industry as an assembly and serviceman for Crathern Engineering, the world's leading manufacturer of paper conversion machinery.  By 1987, he recognized the need for someone to rebuild or remanufacture Crathern style flatboard and rigid box machines as a cost effective alternative to purchasing new machines.  Thus, the birth of RSN Industries in 1987.  In 2009, Dick re-incorporated RSN Industries as RSN Crathern Industries, and in the summer of 2010, assumed the flatboard parts inventory from Crathern Machinery Group who were ceasing their operations.

Ultimately, RSN Crathern Industries is the end product of numerous buy-outs and mergers throughout the past 100 years of  Crathern Machinery Group, Crathern Engineering, Crathern & Smith, Stokes and Smith, FMC, Kingsbury and Davis Company, Beuerle & Crockett and the New Jersey Machine Corporation.
